Everyone as a kid dreamed of being astronauts, dentists, and more, I, on the other hand, dreamed of being just...an author? really, why.Β Like, is it a lack of attention or something? It's kind of weird that I'm sticking with it to this day.
How can I be a worthy author?

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but my takeaway from this is that you feel like those other professions are worth more than being an author, so you have to be absolutely perfect to justify wanting to do that instead of what the others wanted to do. If so, you really shouldn't think about it like that.
Any profession you pursue will have a great deal of difficulty. So, just write! Write, and learn. Besides, forget intellect alone. To be an astronaut, you got to be physically fit, and have absolutely zero preexisting health conditions. I'd rather receive a ton of rejection letters from publications than to give up fast food after dark, and wake up at 6am for morning jogs.
Also, please don't worry about a future you have absolutely no knowledge of. Which means, even if you have to take a job you don't care for while you write on the side, just start seeing the money you get from that job as a stepping stone. Dreams take time, and you need to be supported during that time; I have to remind my almost 31 year old self of that everyday, and it helps.
I wish you the best of luck! <3
