Silent hill2

i recently got into silent hill. ive always loved the games, even though i never really watched/played any of them, until recently. ive only played silent hill 2 so far, thanks to xbox having a silent hill HD collection that gives both 2&3!! i sadly can't play the first game because its a PS exclusive, but thankfully youtube is a thing.

i gotta say for my first play through it did take me about a month to finally get into it. i battle with change and it takes me some time to fully get into something. so starting off was kinda annoying because it reminded me of og RE games like RE2 or CV. the controls where wonky, the angles where always changing and not to mention my xbox controller is old as hell. so my beginning was wonky but im so glad i finished it till the end because it was SO worth it!

!!!!SOME SILENT HILL SPOILERS AHEAD, READ ON WITH CAUTION!!!!

i would say my fav parts of the game are the hospital and toluca prison. the sound effects and use of scenery, esp with the overworld? it had me sucked in, wanting more, and ACTUALLY excited for more puzzles/riddles. since ive only played through it once i wasnt able to experience the difficulty levels of each riddles, but i stuck with medium difficulty so it was nothing too hard, but nothing too easy for it to become boring.

my least fav thing had to be the number of times james had to stick his hand in holes... it was so fricking gross...

not to mention the sound effects. although i do actually love them, they just gross/freak me out. ESP when you are toluca prison! the scary vent noises in between the halls, the big open hanging room that makes the sounds of people walking behind you, even inside the northern and southern cells with the footsteps and random sneezing sounds! all of it was so disgusting but i loved it so much.

i see a lot of people say that the hotel was there fav but i honestly didnt get the hype. dont get me wrong, i love the lore it held but exploring it was so LAME! it felt like forever and not to mention when you finally enter the overworld and you are stuck between those door portals? yeah no thx. i honestly enjoyed the catacombs more than that, and you literally had pyramid head chasing after you!

i also really loved the cutscenes, they added this movie-like feel to it. the way they would switch from actual in game models to fully animated scenes was just so good! i honestly wished they kept it in the newer games, to me its what gave silent hill this movie feel to it, esp in the first silent hill game! the scene where cybil bennett chasing down henry and pulling him over? i just loved that cut scene, and amazingly done for its time!

jame's character was something that honestly shocked me. for awhile as a slowly lurked and peeked into the lore of silent hill i always remembered out people (esp men) would talk about james. that he is some kinda chad, a sigma, or whatever cringe-fest title they would through onto him. which, he was nothing like that, like at all. his character is something much more deeper. its confusing at first because you understand his goal but not the world of silent hill and how come only a select few of people have been called to that town. but as you continue the themes, the messages, and the symbolism gets more clearer and clearer!

i would go into more detail but it wouldnt do any of it justice. actually sitting down and experincing the game for the first time is something i know im never going to get back im SO happy i finally dipped my toe into the world of silent hill and you totes should too.

anywho thx for listening to my babbles, tootles :P
