Suicide Room Movie

THERE WILL BE SPOILERS ITS A FILM REVIEW

I ADORE this movie so much, I watched it for the first time the other night and it took forever to find on any streaming service so I recommend using an archive site. It is in Polish so if you aren't familiar with that language (like me) there are english subtitled versions you just have to deal with an annoying Kinemaster logo at the top but onto the movie!

Going into it I was fully aware that there would be some amount of gore and blood and there is but not as much as I thought, if you are easily triggered by videos of people cutting themselves, overdosing and shooting themselves then maybe this movie isn't for you :)

The way mental health is dealt with as a topic is very realistic and I found myself being able to relate to quite a lot of the scenes especially the one where Dominik is talking with his parents about the forum 'suicide room' and you can clearly see that he is still very much in this episode of depression however he is masking it from his parents to make them turn the internet back on. This scene is unsettling to say the least as the parents truly believe they have made a breakthrough their son when in reality he is trying to manipulate them and in some way it works.

I'm focusing more on the end of the movie as I think its more significant, at least it was to me. We know that Dominik is attracted to men as he says this to his parents (who do not in any way accept him) and displays this rather awkwardly at an event by making out with a statue of a male (in front of the girl who he went to the event with). Anyways back to my point, his relationship with Sylvia is very much like grooming and people believe that he was bi however I disagree personally as Sylvia was very clearly manipulating Dominik into getting her the pills so she could kill herself. HUGE SPOILER: Dominik then ends up ODing himself as she fails to turn up to the place they were meant to meet and Dominik feels like all his purpose to her is lost and therefore he breaks down and takes the pills himself. For viewers who don't like seeing people throw up I'd say you're somewhat safe as it only shows him trying to make himself be sick and not being successful.

The end scene where Dominik's mother logs onto the 'suicide room' forum and tells the other members that he took his life is so incredibly heartbreaking as you can see that they truly did trauma bond to each other in some ways. The way they all slowly log off gives me hope that they returned to society and got the help they needed as we see Sylvia frantically unplug her computer and run outside into the world for the first time in three years and basically just completely break. Her overwhelm of seeing the outside again and the fact that Dominik basically killed himself because of her snaps her back to reality in a way that is so raw.
