What Is Love

I have been trying for the last couple of days, to fully understand this one four letter word.

What is love?

What has love taught you? How were you introduced to love? Does Love hurt, heal, haunt? Is it fulfilling, teachable, unconditional, intentional?

Love is supposed to be fulfilling, right? It's supposed to be warm and comfortable. Pleasing to one individual's senses, right? Love is supposed to make the impossible feel possible, it;s supposed to block the negative and create new positives, right? It's supposed to protect, essentially feed, nourish and survive, endlessly? Right?
Love is supposed to make you feel weightless, and free, open to just that person you want to give it to, Not even in a sexual or physical way. It's broad, and (although unitentionally categorized), it is sectioned into different mods of life (family, friends, work, life...etc).

Am I slighted into thinking that in my years on earth, that love is only a choice? How you choose to love a person, IF you choose to love a person, is simply a choice. Even in that simple statement, that's not exactly warm and comfortable. It's more crass and blunt...and very edgy.
Why is that so? Why should loving someone be a choice? Why should it come with so many rules, and stipulations? Why is love never 100%, realistically. There is always a second side, there is always something birthed from it, whether it a gift, or a consequence. It's based on a choice.

I'd love to hear from you on this......
