OMG MATT BENNETTS ALBUM TERMINAL CASES IS SO GOOD. its such a beautiful album oh my god. the album tells a story, its about his parents divorce, and moving forward, but through the lens of Robin Williams' movies. allow me to elaborate, one of the tracks is called "Jumanji", another is called "Fisher King", another is called "Hook Pt. 1" & "Hook Pt.2", and there's also one called "Doubtfire", like i said before these titles are all based off of the late Robin Williams' movies. his movies Jumanji, Hook, The Fisher King, Mrs. Doubtfire, Moscow on the Hudson, Jack, The Birdcage, What Dreams May Come, The World According to Garp, and Bicentennial Man are all mentioned on the album!! the albums name, Terminal Cases, is based off of the last sentence in "The World According to Garp", it reads "In the world according to Garp, we are all terminal cases." In an interview, (the one he did on Zach Sang and the Gang) he says that his father read "The World According to Garp" and the last line broke him, he then gave the book to Matt when he was in middle school, and he says he felt the same, in a way the album is dedicated to his father. Matt says it took him three years to complete this album. its insane how talented and creative he is, it blows my mind. the album is so so so so incredibly underrated. ive never heard anything like it, nothing compares. this is basically me saying, listen to the album. its more indie but Matt's voice is just beautiful. this album is perfect, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE listen to it. this record means the world to me.
edit: Matt ended this album PERFECTLY. the last verse of the last song is: "how could we be so foolish, Jack? To have the world and eat it too. As long as I have a life to live before I die, I think i'll be fine. Yeah, living's what we'll do. When I put down the book, the author is dead. Into a brighter blue world, we step in."
the last line, "Into a brighter blue world, we step in." gets me every time. its just so good. like i said before, the album tells a story. the first lyric on the very first track is "Is it okay, to miss her now Jack?" he obviously still misses her, and at the end of the album, he's okay now. he's moving forward, he's happier, he can live without her. its just such a beautiful album. and the lyric "As long as I have a life to live before I die, I think I'll be fine. Yeah, living's what we'll do." is just so so so GOOD. I love this album more than I love myself. The message it sends is perfect. "In the world according to Garp, we are all terminal cases." if we could so consistently see ourselves as terminal cases, we too might joke about and laugh at our tragedies.
this album has some of my favorite lyrics ever in it, here's a list:
"They say the worst thing in life is being with people who make you feel alone, life's not always a picnic, Jack, you reap what you sow! how unfair it all seemed, to only meet you in dreams, you were alive my whole life and I didn't even know. " - Fisher King
"What year is it? no, what year am I? Finally grew a beard but have no reason to be alive." - Jumanji
"Were out of the jungle, but were not out of the jungle yet cause, life is so strange on the outside, take me back, oh take me back." - Jumanji
"In terms of love and danger, be careful where you stand, the heart is many a tricky thing, and the floor is quicker than the sand." - Jumanji

"Before I met you, I was an island, now I am a beach." - Garp (Terminal Cases)
"An uncertain future's the best kind. I can mold it and shape it and make it mine. That's the writer in all of us, the imitator of human behavior, the taste to make a writing with flavor." - Garp (Terminal Cases)
"I'm alone and I'm impatient, if i came off cruel, I'm sorry, sometimes I get so caught up in the facts and figuration's, blood and math equations, humility and dignity and insecurity and stuff." - Garp (Terminal Cases)
"Pick up stones and pave the path on the fossils of your apostles." - Garp (Terminal Cases)
"As long as I have a life to live before I die, I think I'll be fine. Yeah, livings what we'll do. When I put down the book, the author is dead. Into a brighter blue world, we step in." - Garp (Terminal Cases)
If you haven't noticed, this is my favorite album of all time. :]
