Bleach Weebs: Meeting Ichigo

Hello and welcome to the Bleach Weebs! Here I will discuss Bleach and it’s arcs and episodes! I am currently on the Hueco Mundo arc, so the previous arcs will go by kinda quick, also, I am going to discuss the Bount Filler Arc but I won’t really talk about the others, since I don’t really watch filler. I might leave out some scenes due to me reading both the manga and watching the anime. If any information is inaccurate, please point it out! I apologize and hope you enjoy!

Well first things first, we meet Ichigo Kurosaki, and orange haired boy who seems quite threatening. So in the first scene he is bullying some skateboarders and asking them about a little flower pot that got knocked over. As he’s absolutely demolishing them one by one, he says to the rest that they better apologize to a little girl who’s floating next to Ichigo. The dudes then get scared and run away.

So at this point you can determine the little girl is a ghost and her little memorial pot got knocked over. 

Anyways, Ichigo goes home and get wrecked by his father who KICKED his own son in the face because he wasn’t home on time. This is where we see his two sisters, Yuzu and Karin. This is also where we can determine his mom has died. When Karin berates their father, Isshin (their dad) cry’s next to a poster that says “Masaki Forever”, who is their mother. Ichigo is pretty much a loner who doesn’t like people a lot. That characteristic stays with him for the rest of the series.

Later that night, a black haired girl comes THROUGH Ichigo’s wall. Initially, Ichigo thinks that the girl is an intruder and kicks her. The girl, whose name is Rukia Kuchiki, is surprised since she thought Ichigo couldn’t see her. Afterwards, Rukia decides to explain who she is and what they do.

In the world of Bleach, there are creatures called Pluses and Hollows. Pluses are souls who have died and haven’t been sent to the Soul Society (heaven, practically) and reside in the world of the living. Pluses have chains on their chest that connect them to their bodies. When they died, the chain was broken. If left in the world of the living for too long, the chains on their chest start to disappear, and once they do completely, they turn into hollows. Hollows are extremely lonely creatures who feed on humans to try to fill the hole inside of them. (Keep in mind when the chain goes away they literally develop a hole somewhere on their body.) Hollows devour humans and Pluses, so it is a Soul Reapers job to kill them and send the soul inside them to the Soul Society.

Soon after, Ichigo feels a Hollows Spiritual pressure (the pressure when one’s power is strong) and he hears its cries BEFORE Rukia, who is a PROFESSIONAL Soul Reaper. Rukia then binds him with Kido (little spells they can cast) in which Ichigo now has his hands tied behind his back. However his sister appears at the door all injured (in the manga it’s Karin in the anime it’s Yuzu). She tells him to run and Ichigo is traumatized. Rukia runs outside to see Ichigo’s other sister being attacked by the Hollow. Ichigo’s rage intensifies to the point he breaks the Kido, something normal people can’t do. He goes to attack the Hollow, but since he has no experience he starts to get attacked and is ready to let the Hollow kill him. Rukia jumps in the way, calling him an idiot. As Rukia can no longer fight, she tells Ichigo there is one way to save his family. She can stab him with her Zanpakutō (her sword) and transfer half of her powers to him. Ichigo agrees and they transfer powers. Ichigo instantly ONE SHOTS the Hollow. Rukia notices there is something wrong, and realizes she is in a Gigai (a human body Soul Reapers use in case of emergencies). She realized the only way this could of happened is if Ichigo took all her powers. Realizing this, Ichigo is now a Substitute Soul Reaper, and she needs to stay with him in order to help him kill Hollows.

And that’s the first episode! I’m probably gonna refer to Soul Reapers as Shinigami (NOT SHINIGAMI EYES FROM DEATH NOTE) since I watch sub and that’s how I hear it all the time.
