Two Week Goal Updates

So it's been two weeks since the second of January where I "officially" started going to the gym regularly and doing other things to better myself this year. So far, it's been going really well.

Here are things I have been doing:

  • Going to the gym six days a week
  • walking six days a week for a mile
  • Reading every day
  • making my bed every day in the morning
  • doing dishes every day before going to bed
  • taking vitamins every day
  • doing laundry every day
  • going to bed earlier

I feel like staying on a schedule like this is helping out a lot. I think I just do better with a pretty regimented schedule. Since I've been reading every day, I've gotten more excited about reading. Before this year I've had three books that I've started and haven't finished. Right now, I'm reading "The Ritual" and it's getting more interesting. I think the issue I was having before was that I would read a few chapters and then take a few days off from reading and by the time I'd get back into it, I was less interested. The two other books I started that I want to finish are "We Are All the Same in the Dark" and "The Long Way Home". I'm really excited about "The Long Way Home". It's a book about a cyclist, Ryan Van Duzer, and his 4,000 mile bike trip from Honduras to Colorado. I have also noticed that the weight is going up for the machines I'm using at the gym. That obviously always happens when I go to the gym more regularly. Also, I'm normally around 135 pounds, but have been closer to 132 lately.

The only thing right now that I'm worried about is when I start gravel training. I'm not sure how often I should go to the gym once I start. Once we start getting into better weather I'll be doing one gravel training ride on the weekend, one nacho ride a week(this ride is from in town to another town ten miles away from the trail head;20 miles there and back), and just random "fun rides" around town. I think I would be happy with going to the gym 3-4 times a week. Normally I drop down to no gym time, which definitely makes riding a little more difficult.
