old death note fandom records

lately whenever i search up smth media related and its death note it always comes from like 2011 or some date like that so im kinda js gonna launch this project abt me js recording things i would see on like the OLD death note fandom. i saw this fangirl on youtube but it was like 15 years ago and i think thats really silly cuz it makes me think abt how internet culture has always been like this. only difference is that there was morw "^_^". anyway if i see smth abt the old death note fandom ill prob record it here

1/14/23 3:33 pm: MAN IDK WHY IM RECORDING THE EXACT DATE AND TIME FOR THIS BUT IDGAF ummm ok so i searched up death note stuff from like 2014 onto twitter and CURRENTLY ITS NORMAL. people js yapping abt how death notes good and they like death note (this search is the most normal interaction of the fandom ive seen) but im aiming 2 find unhinged stuff. im gonna go on sites where the silly mfs lurk.

UPDATE: we all knew l x light shippers existed back then but its js kinda funny to think abt. U MAY LOOK AT THE URL AT UR OWN RISK its funny until u look at the hand placement. we dont have much yet but i am promising more silly things to giggle at.

another update: found a thread of people talking abt what it was like being in the death note fandom from 2005-2012 and these are the main things i got from it: insane amount of shipping (mainly l x light but that hasnt changed within the fandom really), a lot of people hated misa apparetnly WHAT DID MISA DO 2 YALL, apparently conventions would be FILLED with death note cosplayers as well. 2007 flash animations (im gonna do more research on that) umm and a few other silly things but these were the main ones i saw mentioned

update 3: i found so many fan flashes of death note. like insane amounts holy shit what the hell. they were all rly silly and stupid but it was arguably the most therapeutic thing ive done in my entire life. it kinda made me think abt the stupid shit fandoms used to do like ik fandoms STILL DO STUPID SHIT but its not the same </3 i found a bunch but i found quite a lot from this playlist if u wanna look at some most of them r like 2008-2009 very stupid and silly https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLA337FFF5FA6CC8BA

1/15/2024 8:01 PM:ok so i got curious abt how much death note was REALLY at anime conventions back then, and while it was less than the thread from earlier said there was still quite a bunch i found someone sharing photos of like a convention in florida and i think one of their friends was dressed as L but there was definitely more than one there and there was a misa too. then i saw this anime expo 2007 vlog and while the quality was bad i am 90% sure i saw a fucking army of Ls running around i started giggling. based on the videos i looked at most of it was around the time of 2007 but i could be wrong because i wasn't looking at it for hours straight. then i decided 2 search up con performances that had death note AND THERE WERE A LOT. i would see the video names and id start laughing LIKE FUCKING "L HAS DIABETES (2009 anime boston) WAS NOT A PERFORMANCE I WAS EXPECTING. so while at first my research wasnt much the convention performances told me there was an INSANE AMOUNT OF DEATH NOTE COSPLAYERS at conventions back then.
