language of flowers - heliotropes

hii, welcome to the very first entry of my  lof  series owo !

SO, dude symbolism is so cool to me and im such a nerd when it comes to flowers so here is the meaning of my favourite flower, heliotropes, the sun-gazing flower - basically they just face their heads to watch wherever the sun is.

also fun little fact, a nickname for them is cherry pie flowers which i think is very cute :3

ANYWAY. heliotropes mean eternal love and devotion. the meaning comes from a story in greek mythology, an ocean nypmh named clytie was loved by the sun-god, helias (now apollo) who abandoned her. he left her pining, watching him which led to her wasting away and eventually dying of a broken heart. helios transformed her into a flower and even after her death, she still admires the sun, turning to wherever it is.

ok first of all justice for clytie wtf??? and second, if anyone gave me a bouquet of these flowers, i think i'd simply die. like you are just handing me your EVERLASTING LOVE, HELLO!!!
