Like the title suggests, I've moved back into my on-campus dorm.
I moved back in on Monday. The skies on my way there were beautiful. My mom and grandpa dropped me off, but not without my mom chewing me out for my room and its cleanliness. Unfortunately, this resulted in a less-than-heartfelt goodbye. I spent the rest of my day in my room unpacking, cleaning, and relaxing. Monday night was rough, as strong winds disrupted my sleep. There's a tree outside my dorm window that, when moved by the wind, makes a loud scraping sound. Due to the noise, that was some of the worst sleep I've gotten in a long time.
On Tuesday I walked my classes, but the weather soon turned miserable, and I had to retreat. There wasn't much else to do but wait for classes to start. On Wednesday, I attended my classes. I have very quirky teachers for Bio II, History II, and Cal II, all of which I had on Wednesday. Normally, I would also have my Bio II lab, but labs don't start until not this coming week, but the next. Thursday, I had Cal II recitation, English II, and Comp I. I'm a little nervous about English II, this is my first smaller university class with an unfamiliar professor. On Friday, I went back to Bio II, and also History II.
With the way my schedule works out, I'm finished with class by 1pm on Friday. This is nice as it gives me the entire afternoon to finish any work before the weekend. However, a lot of my classes are scheduled around what I would consider lunchtime (11-12pm), so I end up eating lunch later than usual. This isn't the best outcome, but it's alright. Some of my classes aren't as lecture-heavy as last semester's. I am expected to watch lecture videos before coming to class for Bio II, and my English II professor has stated that her class is an active learning environment. My history professor also seems to enjoy class engagement.
I haven't done much today other than relax. I haven't seen my roommate since yesterday morning; I wonder where she is. She might be off with her friends. I'd only be concerned if she were gone for a week and didn't tell me. This morning I got a text from my old friend who asked me if my classes had started back. It's funny that he texted me today since I was thinking about him last night. We discussed our academic journeys and wished each other luck. Seeing his text once again made my face light up in a way it simply hasn't in a while. I would talk about him more, but it would just be more rumination.
Once again, it is January. I like January since it's quieter than other months. However, this does not mean that the weather is. It's been quite stormy lately, and every January there is a day/night that sticks in my mind as being a dreary day with continuous rain. In a few days, the US will be hit with an Arctice blast sending my area into lows in the teens! I begin my anticipation of spring once more!
