Ok so this isn't a game dev post but I've been making a lot of cocktails recently and I wanted to start tracking them. I'm not going to post ones I've done in the past but will try to going forward. Anyway, going to be abbreviating some ratings for some loose categories. They're not really empirical, just kinda general landmarks.
RE: Revisit: Duh.
OP: Other People Would Like This: Not Bad, but not what I like.
DS: Damn Son: Remember this one for next time, keep stock to make this.
MA: Make Again: Good enough to make again, not good enough to buy ingredients just for it.
DB: Don't Bother: Unremarkable, not worth the ice spent making it but not necessarily bad.
AI: Avoid It: Don't ask for one, don't accept one, do not make one.
FT: Fuck this Drink: Burn the liquour cabinet of anyone who dares make one of these, you were a fool to try.
Anyway, first up,
London Fog - Mittie Hellmich 2006, The Ultimate Bar Book (Comprehensive guide to 1000 Cocktails)
Rating: RE
1 1/2 ounces amaretto
1 1/2 ounces crème de menthe (White)
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Shake with ice, strain, serve with lemon slice floating on top of drink
Notes:
So you know those recipe reviews where they change everything and don't like it? Yeah kinda fucked up like that on this one. Ended up using crème de cacao instead of amaretto, 2 ounces of each, and then had to adjust the bitters to about 4 dashes on the fly. I also used green crème de menthe (Which doesn't really matter, it's just colour).
I... dropped the ball on this one. I had the recipe open on my computer, and then forgot half of it by the time I got to the kitchen While it's not bad (Tastes kinda like a Junior Mint), I wouldn't make my fuck up again. (Off to a great start I know) It's overly sweet and I can hardly taste the bitters. If you like drinking candy, this is the drink for you. If you don't, then I wouldn't bother, there's better uses for crème de cacao.
