TMM
I know what a lot of people are thinking "ew you actually find this garbage good?" or "its just their same pop formula" etc, but yes, I do find The Maybe Man [TMM] actually good.
I do want to note that this is my second album review, so please bare with me if it's not a "proper" critique of the album.
TMM blew me away and honestly, reminded me a lot of the theatrical sound that Neotheater had, which is my favorite album the boys have done. I also love that this album basically navigates adulthood and all the things that come with it.
Songs like "Maybe Man", "inertia", "Touchy Feely Fool", "Turning Out Part iii", and "2085" are definitely my favorites [not including the singles I did enjoy", and overall had the most impactful lyrics.
I can definitely say this is a step up from OKO, and I cannot wait to see where they go from here.
I personally don't understand why people hate AJR so much, like of course they may be very pop-oriented and have the same sound in each album, but that's what makes them well, them. AJR has always had this sort of musical theater theatrical sound to their music, while still maintaining lyrics people can relate to, and I hope that at least some people liked TMM as much as i did.
fave song - inertia
least favorite song - none at this time
also, rest in piece Gary Metzger <3
