"Oh great, another butthurt comic book fan being upset that their favorite character isn't comic accurate!" YES. AND?
Looking at the Madame Web suits made me wanna hurl. I don't understand why make a live action if it's not going to make sense and if they're not gonna make the characters look like themselves.
I genuinely don't care about race bending or anything like that, it's whatever to me, sometimes it's fun, but it just sucks when they make a character's once interesting design into just slop.
Out of all the Anya suits they decide to make one that's inspired by the synthetic Krabby Patty? Really? And they won't even give her the iconic ponytail? I mean at this point you could replace her with any other Spider-Person and it wouldn't make a difference. I was really hoping to see the spunky, tomboyish Anya I know and love but it's looking like we're getting the generic, sassy zoomer that's plagued the big screen as of lately. This goes triple seeing as there's three of them tagging along Cassandra Webb, which doesn't deserve to be called Madame Web seeing as she's only supposed to be 29 at most.
On that note, why did they decide to use Anya instead of Jessica Drew? Seeing as the team up Madame Web's comic book counterpart is part of is with Jessica, Julia and Mattie? Was it maybe a bit repetitive because of the Spiderverse movie? I would think they would've jumped the shark at having Jessica in it more than Anya imo.
Anyways, my prediction is that this movie will be a hot topic for a month, whether it's because of Sidney Sweeney in a latex suit, the abysmal take on Ezekiel, the inevitable attempts at tikotok zoomer humor, and the usual cope from the masses that the movie is actually good, then it'll fade into another failure from Sony a la Morbius.
