soul eater

aaa i started the anime adapt of soul eater last night cos I was bored, and so far its good!!!!

I read the first two issues (manga) and it was super cool. I love Atsushi Okubo's art style so much! Just wish there wasnt so many 14 y/os getting their boobies grabbed :(

whatever! I had highish expectations. I know studio bones animated the show, the same company that did Bungo Stray Dogs, Vanitas no Carte and Mob Psycho 100, all stunningly animated shows! I have pretty hopeful expectations, especially since so far it looks good.

Before hand, I did watch the first 2 eps (Soul/Maka, BLACKSTAR/Tsubaki) and i felt turned off from it bc of some of the voicing. BS's voice bugs me and I cant really put my finger on why. I guess the english voice for him (i usually watch dub since i watch w family, while i do work or when im tired) just feels awkward. Women voicing men/boys in anime and such isnt an issue, but it feels off for him. It doesnt feel like spunky, over energetic and proud blackstar. Half of me wishes it was Cristina Vee Valenzuela who did the voicing. She does alot of popular young boy characters (Bennett/Xingqiu from genshin and Killua from HXH). 

Another voice I noticed the voice for Death the kidd: Todd Haberkorn! Hes another favorite of mine, doing not only DTK but also Razor (Genshin) and Edgar Allen Poe (BSD). I didnt have the chance to google it last night, but I was able to hear the way Poe speaks in how dtk did. Theres a specific rasp to his voice and the way it raises is also notable! Personally, I like this one. It feels a little off but I really cant think of much anyone better. His japanese voice is done by a notable person too: Mamoru Miyano. He voices a bunch of popular characters, from Dazai (BSD) and Light (Death Note) to Ryuji (Persona 5) and Tamaki (OHSHC)! He has lots of range and is generally really really good at his work. I love it! It feels a bit wrong tho. Instead of my issue w blackstar, its the opposite, with him sounding very manly. Even when he whines about asymetrical architecture, he sounds like someones dad! It feels so weird! 

Overall, I'd say that I'm hopeful for this show. It's a show I've been meaning to watch for a few months now and I've heard alot of people like it or have watched it and said its great! I'm excited!
