So I just finished reading Alice by Christina Henry. IT WAS GOOD. I didn't expect anything and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I LOVE Alice in Wonderland adaptations; Especially if theyre creepy. Alice is def a dark fantasy story, I think that might be my new favourite genre.
WARNING!!! :0
I'm going to talk about the book so spoilers ahead!!!
One of my fav things about the book was how Christina wrote all the characters. I mean the small details/references were increadible (I mean she even included the Walrus and the carpenter,, like hello???? So good!). I think my favourite characters (other than Alice and Hatcher), was either Pipkin or Cheshire. Pipkn was such a sweet Rabbit, and I hope he found his family (maybe we will find out in The Red Queen book...). But Cheshire is a different case. The best way to describe Cheshire is chaotic neutral. Out of all the "bosses" of the Old City, he was the only one who tried to protect the women of his province. He also helped Alice and Hatcher on their quest to defeat the Jabberwock, although he did it for the sake of his own entertainment and personal gain. I however liked his appearances throughout the book and his cheeky personality, it was refreshing compared do the horrible Caterpillar or Walrus.
Alice holds some very sad and disturbing content however, which may be triggering to some readers, so if you would like to read it but know some things trigger you then I suggest doing a little bit of research beforehand <3 stay safe
Okay okay, before I go too crazy and ramble on for hours, I'm going to end it with my personal rating out of 5.... [drumroll plz]
