Today, my family and I went out to eat at a new coffee spot that my mom googled. And the most surprising thing about it is that it was a vegan restaurant. Now we've never eaten at a vegan place before, but the reviews on the website said it was really delicious, and since it was close by we decided to just head there for lunch.
For the appetizers we got Boudin Balls which I was a little confused by because how could they run a vegan place and serve Boudin lol. But we ate them and they were probably the most delicious thing ever!
They had this really tasty sauce that was spicy, and the Boudin inside was perfect! I think they should change gears and just serve Boudin it was that good. Next, we moved onto drinks. I didn't want any coffee but my dad ordered a cappucino which looked pretty tasty, but he said it wasn't super sweet or sugary. There was a cute pattern made out of foam, but my dad ignored it and drank from the cup before I could snap a cute photo of it </3
The coffee they offered was actually way cheaper than Starbucks too, and I did have some of my dads coffee (just a sip) and it even tasted a lot better. I normally don't like Starbucks, and avoid it like the plague because I'm not that big a fan of their drinks. I find that they give me a headache (ouch!!) or that they're too sweet and make crash hours later. The variety on their coffee menu however was very small, and not as large as Starbucks.
In the end, the only thing I ended up drinking was just some tea. They claimed it was raspberry tea, however I really didn't taste any raspberry at all! I didn't feel like complaining however, since everyone was already enjoying their drink so I just played along </3 not that it wasn't bad tea, it just didn't taste as raspberry-ish as I was hoping. My favorite kind of tea is peach anyways, and I think they'd do better if they went ahead and served that. The BEST tea I've ever had was black tea mixed with coconut, literally so heavenly with ice I loved it, it tasted like summer in a glass!
When it came time to order, I had already made up my mind on what I wanted to eat, and that was their Hot honey "Chik'n" and Waffles dish, which is basically fried Enoki Mushrooms with a waffle and a very tasty honey syrup. It was a solid 8/10, I didn't hate anything about it, they only thing I wish they improved on was the spice of the "hot honey". I thought it was be a little spicier, and it was really just barely there! When I got home, I put some hot sauce on it to make it taste a bit better, and it was great!
I won't lie and say it tasted exactly like chicken, because it didn't. But it still was really good. However, if you hate mushrooms and have texture issues, then you probably wouldn't like this dish. The Enoki mushroom is kind of chewy unlike a normal mushroom, and also stringy. Its still tasty and had a very savory flavor, but because this is a mushroom dish most of that was attributed to the batter it was fried in. After that, we went back and got more deserts from The Puddery, though this time we had to wait kind of a long time. My mom got their famous banana pudding for all of us, but I'm not that big of a fan of banana pudding lol.
Anyways today was a good day, I enjoyed my lunch! And I have a lot of deserts as well~
