Dear lovelies,
A new year means a better me, which means a few things...
content discussed: bad habits, comfort zones, overthinking
I used to meditate almost daily for a couple of months but then stopped when I didn't have the energy to continue. You know when you're doing really good in life: You're happy more than you are sad, your body feels energized and healthy, your relationships are flourishing, etc., etc. This all feels really amazing, but you're not used to it. You're used to feeling negative and hopeless about life so much it's become comfortable. That's what happened to me. I've decided that just because it's comfortable doesn't mean it's good for me.
Today, I meditated for ten minutes using a guided meditation on overthinking. My spring semester of college starts up again soon, and I've learned (from the fall semester) just how much my overthinking habits could negatively affect me. I mean, it got to the point where I didn't want to get up in the morning. Weirdly, I'm happy I went through this, so now I know how important it is to prioritize my mental health.
Here's the link to the meditation I used: https://youtu.be/MH6uK2-ieb0?si=Q7yaN-HGN4SbEydh
I'm back to daily journaling, too, which is something I lost during the transition from high school to college. Understandably so! It was a lot happening, a lot of new, you know? Before, I would beat myself up for not staying on top of my routine, but what's the use? I've learned from experience that I grow the most when I'm kind to myself. It felt really cringe at first, and felt cringe to type out... but it helps! You should try it out sometime :).
And so, I'm doing things that bring me happiness and better quality of life no matter how uncomfortable it might feel. Because I deserve it! And you do, too <3.
xoxo, sel ⋆。°✩
p.s., if you're into meditation/journaling, let me know what are your favorite practices!
