I think it's because they don't have thumbs and can't open bank accounts. But also because they spend a lot on hookers, blow, and fish furniture.
That too. Some fish do have thumbs but they are too insecure about their size to show them.

You didn't hear it from me, but I hear the shellfish are attempting to upset the balance with crypto-mining.
That's such a shellfish thing to do. They adopt the name "fish" even though they are a different species, but they sure don't adopt fish morals. It's sad to see ˙◠˙
