poem

puff it away

Oh, the sweet temptation of smoke and fire,

A fleeting escape from life's dire desire,

To mask the pain and hide the truth,

And drown our sorrows in a cloud of proof.

We puff and puff, and blow away our fears,

But the problems remain, year after year,

For though the smoke may momentarily soothe,

It never solves the root of our youth.

The ashes fall, the embers fade,

And we are left with nothing made,

But the weight of our unfaced truth,

And the memories of our bitter proof.

So let us not be fooled by smoke and haze,

For in the end, it only causes daze,

And the problems we avoid, they'll still be here,

When the smoke has cleared, and the fire's fear.
