Bad Horror Movie Rec - "The Dentist"

What a fun watch. "The Dentist", a Brian Yuzna film, follows the descent into depravity of Dr. Feinstone as he grapples with his wife's affair. Coming to believe that everything around him reeks of decay, he turns to brutally mutilating the mouths of his patients. While this premise is all well and good, and Corbin Bernsen's performance is spectacular, I'd be lying if I didn't appreciate this movie mostly for the closeup medical gore. Shots of teeth being drilled, gums exposed, dental forceps extracting molars from the mouth. If that's not your thing, I'd skip this flick altogether. Overall, "The Dentist" is a witty bit of slasher fun that definitely isn't a bad way to spend a few hours. "The Dentist 2" will likely be a future post.
