The Adventures of Bonnie pt 1: The Loneliness to Foraging Pipeline

Hello Dear Reader,

Welcome to The Adventures of Bonnie pt. 1. Hopefully it isn't too boring, and if you have any tips on how to make my blog better, I'd appreciate it as this is my first blog.

While I was roaming around the woods one day, I found this fruit.

They had a strong smell but a very muted taste, like bananas and a hint of mango. The ones I got were really squishy and sickly sweet, so I think they were bad. Maybe next year I'll find a good one.

On the inside, they were mostly seeds.

If you have any recommendations on what I could do with the seeds, tell me! I think they are too weak to turn into buttons, but could make something else cool. I just can't imagine it.

I also found walnut trees, but decided not to eat many of the walnuts because they were too much work to crack, and stained my fingers (although, I think walnut stained hands look kind of cool, kind of like henna). They also scared me for two reasons. One, the trees were enormous and the large walnut casings would fall from the trees when they were ripe, and hit the ground hard. I would get scared when walking past the trees that one would fall on my head, so I steered clear of them. The second reason is because some of the casings also have worms on the inside, and I absolutely hate worms.

In the woods, there were hay bales; I'm not sure why they were there, but it was obvious they had been there for a long time. I tried to step on one to get past it, and it crushed, like it was made of mashed potatoes. My foot went through the bale. I was wearing my dress shoes too since I had a presentation. :( Well lesson learned. I won’t step on hay bales I find in the woods anymore.

I found these HUGE mushrooms. They were so big, and they were growing near the roots of a fallen tree. I think these were either Chanterelle or Jack O' Lantern Mushrooms. One is edible, one causes vomiting, and neither of them get you high, so I decided not to eat it.

I recently took up bird watching. Luckily, I already had a pair of binoculars so it was rather easy to start. I also started collecting feathers. It’s odd. I never noticed bird feathers before, but after I started bird watching, I started finding them everywhere on the ground. The first feather I found is the biggest one in the middle. It’s a wild turkey feather, and it’s as long as my hand plus a couple inches. I’m thinking about turning it into a quill, it’s the perfect size.

Now it’s winter, so I haven’t been able to go out as much. Till then, I’ll dream of spring.

Thank you so much for reading the first part of The Adventures of Bonnie, and thank you for leaving a kudos if you choose to.

Have a good day!

Sincerely,

BonnieBoPeep
