Journal Entry #89: Gearing Up to Go Back - 01/07/24

Happy New Year, everyone!

Not much has happened since we entered 2024. I did just finish Hi-Fi Rush and it was amazing. I'll save my thoughts for a separate post though.

I've enjoyed my break but I must return to academic life! I can't wait to ask my classmates what they did over break, but I saw an alarming amount of vacation photos... I feel somewhat well-rested and refreshed for this new semester.

However, some things are bugging me... It only takes me about a month to adjust to new conditions, and because I've been back for roughly a month, I feel a strange attachment to my home. I don't have the same amount of privacy I do here, and I'll have to go back to sharing a room with another person. Thankfully, this shouldn't last. One thing that I didn't realize I'd miss is my IFOPE flag. It's such a pretty blue color, I wish I had space to hang it up in my dorm. 

As for today, I went with my family to a breakfast restaurant. It's been in the city for many years but we've steered clear of it due to the college students liking it and the extremely long queues. Thankfully when we went today it wasn't overflowing with guests. We can only afford to go during the "off-season". I had a stack of pancakes, and after eating them, inspired me to make my own. That dream can be realized, with my own kitchen, perhaps. While I was there, I found myself staring out the window, looking out at the trees. Surprisingly, a lot of them still had their fall leaves. They glinted so beautifully from the sun's light. Man, I can't wait for spring!

Anyway, I need to finish packing to move back into my dorm.
