When making chocolate cake, adding about a cup of black coffee will increase the moisture of the cake and deepen the chocolate flavor. hot coffee can be used to bloom the cocoa powder, releasing more flavor.
note: If you're using hot coffee, add in your eggs after adding the coffee, or mix both in quickly at the same time. If your eggs are already in the bowl when adding your coffee, waiting too long to mix may cause the eggs to start cooking.
