Millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha

I am much very overdo for posting my mindless rambling here, and of course the time I randomly start thinking about the different age groups, this site is currently at each other's throats about kids and older people. But who knows maybe that'll give this post more attention, but who knows if that'll be a good or bad thing.

I'll go ahead and say I am on the borderline of Millennials and Gen Z, so I don't feel any strong connection to either side, then again everyone is different regardless of the age group right?

Well I first started thinking about this as I was realizing the stereotypes for Millennials and Gen Z today is a bit different from the stereotype when I was a young teen. Back then I remember Gen Z being seen as the upcoming SJWs who were cringe and addicted to self diagnosing, kids saying they're depressed because that was the emo stereotype at the time. Meanwhile Millennials were seen as tough and edgy cause they were kids during the edgy American years of the 90s, and boy did they give Gen Z a lot of shit as we started to become 'sensitive'

Fast forward to today and it seems like I see the two stereotypes were swapped. These days I don't interact with a huge group of communities, then again I feel like communities aren't as varied in types of people as they once were, so really I'm mostly repeating what I hear and a little bit of what I actually see.

If I'm watching my usual Libertarian type videos it seems to be mostly filled with commenters my age and a little younger, anyone older is typically a boomer or something. Then when I meet and talk to people directly, it seems like it's also my age who have a hobby in guns(guns are a touchy topic here in America at the moment), are pretty anti government, and romance the tales of the internet being the wild west or societies from the 1900s. Maybe it's because we're a mixture of the two gens but who knows.

Meanwhile if I peek at a lot of 'safe space' type communities it seems like it's either people in the Millennial age group, latter half of Gen Z, and soemtimes even Gen Alpha. People who act terrified at the idea of ever upsetting anyone or making anyone feel excluded. But again my interaction has been limited, so I typically only saw this when I tried to join groups of people near my age or mental health themed groups. Then whenever I look at edgy memes that mock places like Reddit people seem to point out people there are either kids or people in their 30s.

Okay now to explain what I think about all this, after wondering why did the roles change? What happened to cause this? Well so far all I have is: Gen Z grew up, we're not cringy kids anymore (Well I guess the first half of us at least) Which brings me to my next point, I think Gen groups being cringy is more of a matter of how old they currently are, not the group they belong to. Many people have pointed it out already that the last gen will always make fun of the current gen, and it always happens when the current gen are only kid to teen aged. Now for the Millennial thing I have no idea. The ones in my family still act edgy and have ToS breaking humor so I can't really say much on that.

But yeah TLDR; Focusing on the Gens is kinda dumb cause the stereotypes will eventually shift, and regardless of what happens, the kids and teens of today will always be mocked by whoever is over 20, even if they're in the same Gen group.

This was basically my thought process, except I wasn't able to articulate it.
