isn't it insane to think that very soon youtube will be turning 20 years old? like in the next two years it's going to be 20, and the most insane thing is that there are creators on that website who have been creating content since it's conception who still use it. like smosh, rhett and link, amazingphil, ect, but there's like so many youtubers who used to be like on top of the world who have like completely disappeared into oblivion, or like they make content but NO ONE watches them. at least compared to their old view count.
like honestly most of the british youtubers from 2013-2016 have like completely fallen off. the ones who haven't have been dan and phil and like tomska. but there used to be so many like sparkleofglitter/louise pentland, hazel hayes, jack and dean, zoella, crabstickz, ect. so many of those people still upload but get like no views. the only one who has completely stopped has been crabstickz, also known as Chris Kendall. which sucks cause his content was pretty damn funny and when it came to acting he was good at it.
many of the content creators who have fallen off kinda deserve it though, cause their content was kinda ass/they didn't change with the times, but others had so much talent and charisma and it sucks they don't upload anymore/don't get the recognition they deserve.
earlier i mentioned amazingphil/dan and phil. they still upload. in fact they started uploading on their gaming channel again for the 1st time in five fucking years, and it's great. they're content is amazing and they're doing good, but it's quite obvious that their view count has dwindled overtime. even with that, though, they're still doing remarkably well. because we all need to remember that phil joined youtube and started making content in 2007. literally a year after the platform was made, and then dan joined in 2009 and they're peak was 2016 (like a lot of the other british youtubers). so like a reduction in view count is natural. i honestly think the reason why they're doing better than most of the other old british youtubers is because they're so fucking interesting.
they vlogged, like how all the other british youtubers did, but they left out like a lot of their private life (unlike a lot of the british youtubers). they did a lot of the trends of the time and made a lot of the trends of the time. they, though doing what's popular, stood out because they put their twist on it. they were just so unique compared to the others which is why i believe they did so much better/continue to do better than them. i admire them so much and their creativity.
their tours were so unique and interesting. like tatinofs plot line was so cute and the set was just perfect, and interactive introverts was just brilliant. their fucking books were beautiful. tabinof has so much to look at and its so bright and it represents them so well, same with dapgo. dans book that came out a few years ago makes so much sense and it fit his brand so well. their merch is also just superior, they have bomb calendars, candles, phil came out with a hot chocolate at one point, ect.
they just did everything so well, and even though they don't get as much attention they used to they still do everything so well. if not better. they're happier, they're calmer, and they're just living the life they worked so hard for, and i genuinely love that for them. since they're not as popular as they used to be they've definitely chilled out. we're starting to see a side of them we wouldn't have seen back in 2016. they're not hiding their affection, they're not censoring themselves, they're not forcing their content. they're just here and it's beautiful.
well okay that turned into a dan and phil rant quite quickly, not surprising as i'm obsessed with them atm. i know no one will read this cause it's way too long and has literally no purpose, but it was fun to write cause i feel bad ranting to my friends about two old british homos online. and i don't write fan fiction so like this is the only way to get this out of my system lol.
