Random writing

Sometimes- usually during class- I get bored and will randomly write with no real prompt. It's usually about an oc or from a fandom I'm interested / fixated on, but I'll just do an oc.

August had had no interest in his older sister's attempts to get him to trust that forest. Even if it was littered with all kinds of white flowers, which he only took an interest in because of Em, his best friend, who practically lived for flowers and their languages, and for ghosts and spirits. Which resulted in the same conversation:

"Em, I shan't go in that forest. You've asked, I've responded, neither responding with what we want the other to hear." August said calmly, looking off towards the trees, who probably had heard the conversation just as many times.

"Just for a moment. Not into the forest that deep. If you were to turn, you would still see the sunlight from behind."

"Your drawings are enough for me. The flowers are beautiful, that I know-"

"Another reason to come!"

"-to which I still say, I shan't go."

"So stubborn. Really, August. You think I'd let you get hurt? If there even was danger. Which I still assure you, there's not."

"Pay no mind that you're half ghost moth fae."

"Makes my wings whiter and my hair in winter blonder. Your point?"

"Ghosts and spirits, Em."

"I pay my respects. Whom have you lost?" The moth fae's antennas bobbed slightly, its wings fluttered and their wrists shook, causing their bracelets to clink together like dry rice in a container. Signs of lying. Emerald was no good at lying to those it cared for.

"Oh, Em. Do not lie to me. You're awful at it." He softly spoke. Though, he hadn't meant for it to be as patronising as it sounded. Em wasn't a child. They weren't stupid. It didn't deserve any more people treating them as if they were.

It shrugged, hazel eyes peering down and fiddled with their necklace, one it most likely made; a small glass bottle with cork and some light, smoothed and rounded jewellery- amethyst, August guessed- which held the string. Inside the bottle was some crystal. Quartz, most likely. Crystals had been part of the trading system lately, but they were just the common ones, like quartz or amethyst. Around the outside was a simple star dangling along the side.

"I didn't- Em. I apologise. It was not supposed to sound that way,"

Their wings fluttered again, eyes not making eye contact.

"I know."
