kinda ethereal or whimsical with blurry sounding alternative indie rock lots of guitars, some shoegaze artists: my bloody valentine, slowdive, duster, cocteau twins

Idrk either, so idk why im typing this BUT in my eyes its just songs that usually feature a heavily distorted guitar with vocals that go along with that theme. A more traditional approach would be when the vocals and instruments blend together, so the vocals sound like instruments or vice versa. I hope this helps, thanks for posting.
