One thing I've noticed going back into school is that nobody truly knows what they are doing, and nobody is free from insecurity. These aren't bad things, but they do lead to some not so great situations. I just wish everyone knew, or took into account, the fact that other people are still humans more often. It was common at my old school for people who were vastly different from the societal 'norms' that were at that school, which i have to say were bizarre and weird for ANY place. But, it was a mess so it makes sense WHY it was like that. My new school I go to is much more independent, and is much less judgmental. I feel much more free to be myself there, and it is shocking to even think about how I used to go to a place every day that was suppressing me. If you feel suppressed by where you go to school- if you are in school- try to change where you are. Obviously I know some people aren't as fortunate enough to have parents that care, or aren't able to get transportation or whatever to a different school, but for those who do have those things, I urge you to take the leap even if it seems intimidating.
Thanks for reading, Rue.
