Why do people claim 8 GB of RAM is to small for general computer use?

I'm sick of reading comments that 8 GB of RAM is not enough for general computer use. I don't know where they get this assumption. My Windows 10 laptop has 6 GB of RAM and it's never really had an issue where the RAM was not enough for it to preform it's tasks. Well now let me tell you what it can do with just 6 GB. I can browse the web with multiple tabs open, play full screen movies from DVDs and streaming such as Netflix. I can edit full HD video in Adobe Premier including transition effects. Play video games such as Portal from Steam. Play SecondLife. I've played Dungeons and Dragons online with it. Video chat. And even run Virtual Machines. I have a Kubuntu Linux virtual machine with 3 GB of RAM (It was the newest version when I installed it in March 2021 version 20.10, since upgraded to 22.04)

Now the Kubuntu virtual machine is a bit sluggish which is probably because of the low RAM. But most people don't run virtual machines. But aside from virtual machines the fact that this laptop only has 6 GB of RAM does not cause any problems with any of the programs I run.

So where are people getting this information that 8 GB of RAM in your computer is to small for general use?!
