this year's language goals

one of my majors is in russian, so my biggest goal is to reach proficiency by the end of this year. my first semester of learning russian was great and i really do love the language. my long-term goal is to be able to read russian novels (which is a long way off). i do have some dictionaries and i have been reading children's books in russian, so i'm hopeful. i want to speak more russian, though.

the second language learning goal is to rebuild my french skills. i was pretty consistent with practice for a while, but i kind of fell off halfway through 2023. i want to get back the comfort that i had with french.

there are other languages that i do want to try and learn, but they're pretty low priority since i can learn whenever. i have a friend studying ukrainian, so im peripherally interested in it. polish is in that same vein. language learning is a passion of mine, so it's difficult to say i want to learn any one language when i actually want to learn them all.

this entry is mainly meant to help me keep myself accountable but any tips/resources are welcome :D
