some of my favorite bands with less than 10k spotify listeners

a while ago i posted a blog with controversial music opinions, i was gonna post part 2 but i realised that it would be the 3rd music related blog post i made that was just complaining, but i swear i actually do like music so i figured i’d share some of my favorite bands that my friends here might not know!!! this is a really random selection and they aren’t ordered in any specific way, all of them are emo or post-hardcore because that’s what i mostly listen to.  i also added the actual number of listeners to each just cause idk i like looking at  numbers.

#1. YOURCODENAMEIS:MILO 

an awesome math rock/post-hardcore band from england. seriously underrated! all roads to fault is an awesome album especially, my favorite from these guys. also, their last.fm page says they’re inactive since 2007, but they toured last year (???) ycni:m if you see this please tour canada next. actually, if i wanted them to see that i could just post it on twitter since they look up their own name.

#2. Combatwoundedveteran

i love this band so much, they’re awesome. they’re emoviolence/grindcore/screamo, everyone i know who’s into those genres already listens to them but i wanted to mention them here anyway cause they’re great.

#3. drive your plow over the bones of the dead

i urge everyone to listen to this one the most out of all of these, they’re a local screamo band and totally killing it, their first demo is so raw and powerful and i’m really bad at writing about music but they’re so good. but i haven’t gotten to see them live yet which sucks for me!

#4. Antioch Arrow.

90s screamo, their stuff is crazy. proto-sasscore (???) with really unique vocals and chaotic instrumentals. also, i know someone who looks exactly like whichever member is top left on the gems of masochism album cover.

#5. Happy Go Licky

80s emo/post hardcore, i have genuinely no idea how this band has as little listeners as it does since it’s the exact same members as rites of spring which is arguably the most well known/popular 1st wave emo band. I’m #6 on their last.fm top listeners section, and i used to have their song boca raton as my profile song, but i changed it because it kinda hurt to listen with earbuds on, but it’s a really good song (i’m being genuine, not just baiting you into listening to cause you harm)

#6. Penknifelovelife

this one is technically kind of cheating because they only have 2 songs on spotify and the rest of their discography isn’t (it’s on youtube) they’re emo post-hardcore/metalcore, the two songs they do have on spotify are really great so even if you don’t feel like opening a separate youtube tab, those two are totally worth checking out.

#7. Waifle

for some reason the first time i listened to them i used to hate on them??? I have no idea what motivated me to do that because i genuinely liked their music even on my first listen… sorry. great 90s screamo, listen to them so i can even out the fact that i used to be a hater for legitimately no fuckin reason.

i’m cutting it off here i had a couple more but i’m done writing, i drank an energy drink and my wrists feel like they’re going to fall off, and i don’t know why cause it wasn’t even on an empty stomach this time (don’t tell me it’s because of too much caffeine i don’t wanna hear it)
