how fans treat a male antagonist vs female antagonist

I start to realize that there is a pattern when it comes to a fanbase on a show or movie and how SOME fans (and I only saying some because not all fans act like this) treat a male antagonist differently than a female antagonist. Like when a MALE antagonist does something to stop or get in the way of the main character's mission, some fans PRAISE him but when a FEMALE antagonist does the EXACT SAME THING that the male antagonist does, those same fans HATE on her. And like I said, I'm not saying that all fans do this I'm only saying some/few have done this pattern of trashing on a female antagonist and praising the male antagonist.
