SAAEARAOF album analysis :3

hi this is mostly for spacehey user disked aka ectoBiologist

uhmm ya okay this is my interpretation of the album Songs About Angels, Evil, and Running Around On Fire by Thingy

erm i hope this is legible because im allergic to using punctuation sorry ill try my best to make this somewhat readable :3

Ok, so first off my overall thoughts are is that this album represents a child/very young teenager who has experienced some form of trauma, but lacks the vocabulary to express what theyre feeling. In most of the songs, you can tell theyre being sung in the POV of a kid, specifically Homework which is quite literally a song about a child wanting to go outside and play rather than do homework. The "lacking the vocabulary to express it" part comes in heavily torwards the ending of the album, with songs like Drugs (one of my favs), Hit Bottom, Rental (kind of?), Cut (i made a dirkjake edit to this song...its on my currently inactive tiktok acc...if you wanna watch it...), Nod, Light Drizzle, Nosebleed, Honest, and Numb (those last three are actually torwards the beginning of the album). Ok idk how to seuge way properly so im just gonna move onto the part where i explain the lyrics for some of the songs

Drugs:

"And I don't even know what to say

'Cept that maybe it should be important

And I don't even know its name

But if it were a dog I'd call it rover"

This song is the most obvious in conveying someone who cant really explain how they feel or what's happening to them, instead comparing it to a dog and what they would name it to make it easier

Hit Bottom is about people failing to understand the gravity of your situation (and also fearing that whatever you make will go unheard, but if someone actually hears it, it'll become a sick joke to them)

Rental is actually just someone feeling sad that they have to move away from someone they love

Cut (showing the lyrics for this one)

"I wanted you to stop

Doing all of those things that you

Find it so natural to..

I wanted you to *stop*"

(I put emphasis on stop because the music abruptly stops at that part. the lyrics in brackets on the next part is because there's a lot of overlap in this specific part of the song)

"I'll leave you alone if you leave me alone [leave you alone]

[Leave me alone] I'll leave you alone [Leave me alone] if you leave me alone"

I'd also like to mention the really long album title, I think it's pretty cool because a couple of songs have a part of the title as their theme (also, theres more songs mentioning evil than songs with angels. just thought id point that out)

Wave Of Depression- angels

Evil Shadow- evil (duh)

Cutest Baby- evil

Light Drizzle- evil

Cut- running around on fire

Something I'd ALSO like to point out is that a lot of the songs mention or have themes of not being able to leave confinement, not wanting to leave a certain place/wanting to go back to a certain place you miss, how most people are asshholes, not understanding things (how typical conversations are supposed to go, what people have told you, social norms)

UM YEAH thats it!!!!!! thanks for reading
