πŸ’‰ # My analysis of "The Good Child and the Fox Spirit" !

Neon Orange Pointer

β˜… Please note that some parts of these are inspired by comments under the original video & that some are my own thoughts on it! The child is reffered to with They/Them, while the fox spirit will be reffered to with It/Its. Enjoy!

"The Good Child and the Fox Spirit". My interpretation is that it's a fox spirit trying to lure away a child but finally getting to save it from an unloving, neglectful, abusive, etc.. family and taking care of the child? The fox loves the childΒ dearly and wants to care of them, it loves the child despite their flaws and what they needed to learn to survive in that family (dishonesty, etc..)

"Good child, good child, you're a very good child / Go to sleep forever like the good child you are."

It offers the child safety, finally a good night sleep where they're not woken up in fear. The child can finally sleep 'forever'β€” sleep for an entire night.

"I'll give you good dreams forever and ever / I'll be there for you until the day you die."

Β It wants to protect the child, it LOVES the child. The spirit is deeply fond of the child and wants to protect them and give them a better life.Β

I believe that the "We are such a lonely family" & "We are such a miserable family" are the child getting lonely and the spirit feeling bad for it, but not being able to let the child go because they will get taken back to their abusive family. Maybe resulting in the child running away impulsively.

At some point the spirit sobs / has a few shaky breathes then screams? I think that means something happens to the child (an accident, or even the childs family finding them and killing them) and that its experiencing genuine HEARTBREAKING pain for them. Its dearest child..

I think it's scream would actually be a massive shock wave that would kill everything within a certain perimeter. A MASSIVE one (For those who know Homestuck; think of it as Feferis lusus).Β

I think the spirit ends up laying itself down next to the childs body forever and letting itself die.

The spirit, who used to possess people, got possessed by its love for that 'weak', small creature it loved so dearly. It got possessed by its need to take care of that one human.

Overall, I believe it's about a spirit taking care of a child and being entirely devoted to them. It became the parent said child never had. It protected them, fed them, held them on cold nights..

What do YOU think?? Please let me know (respectfully lol) if you disagree & tell me more about it!! I just made up a lot of it on what I felt or thought at the moment. I didn't make any research into it so please tell me if I'm wrong about anything!! If you want to add anything, go ahead :)Β
