The Ant Hill Kids

THIS IS ALL FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES. INCLUDES NO IMAGES OF GORE/CRIMES. THIS MENTIONS: nudity, torture, removal of limbs, castrating, abuse, sexual abuse, death, and a lot more. If you’re sensitive to this stuff pls don’t read!

The Ant Hill Kids is a horrific cult that took place in 1977. Roch Thériault was the leader of this cult. As a child, he dropped out of school at seventh grade and converted himself to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. They believed in no alcohol, drugs, tobacco, or junk food. Roch did not follow the drinking rule. He convinced people to quit their jobs and join him to create a commune that is sin-free. However, members weren't allowed to communicate with family and had to move to a remote area in Ontario, Canada. He convinced everyone that there would be an apocalypse in February, 1979. When it went and came, Roch made the excuse that Israelite and Roman Catholic calendars were different.

In 1981, a two year old boy, Samuel Gilguere, complained about not being able to urinate properly. Roch then sliced open his (you know what). Samuel wouldn’t stop crying so Roch got one of his followers, Guy Veer, to beat Samuel. The young boy ended up dying from his injuries. After his death, Roch and the members decided to burn his body. To punish Veer, he castrated him and told him to tell the others that a horse had crushed him. The police ended up finding Samuels burned body and arrested Roch and some others. They all ended up being released afterwards.

After this, Roch decided he wanted more members in his commune so he forced all of the women to marry and become pregnant with him. He ended up having 26 children which he would abuse horribly. He thought of his followers as ants working for him on a hill which created the name, The Ant Hill Children. Roch started drinking and drinking which would make him even more violent than before. His followers weren’t allowed to speak to each other without his permission. He also started having them participate in tournaments where he would have his members put into a dirt ring and forced to fight. Soon, Roch grew worried about his followers trying to leave him which caused him to be more abusive. He would hit them with belts at first, but would soon change to the flat parts of axes and hammers. If he even just had a thought that one of the members are thinking about leaving he would hang them from the ceiling and take out their hair before he would defecate on them. Roch also would punish them by removing their toes, teeth, fingers, and limbs. He would have members break their own legs to prove they are loyal to him. Some other cruel punishments were to have them eat theirs or other peoples feces, shoot each others shoulders, and he would nail children to trees and have others throw rocks at them. He also would remove nails, burn them by forcing them to sit on stoves, and would make them get nude and whip them.

One night during a blizzard, a woman escaped the commune by leaving her new born baby outside in the blistering cold. The baby ended up dying due to the harsh conditions. This death led to an investigation which would have 14 children brought into foster homes. The Children’s Aid had no desire to seek justice so the commune went on with just eight women and two men.

This made Roch even more brutal. Soon after, he put a rubber band around a man’s (you know what) which caused them to become inflamed and infected. Eight hours later, he removed the man’s (you know what) and burns his wound with an iron.

In September, 1988 Solange Boilard complained of having stomach pains so Roch orders her to go nude and lay on a table. Roch proceeds to punch her in the stomach then put a tube up her rectum and did an enema with molasses and olive oil. He then makes a cut on her stomach and rips out a piece of her intestines with his bare hands, rips it apart, then puts part of it back in. She then got stitches and died the next day.

Roch claims that he has the power of resurrection and had them to remove Solange’s uterus and take off a part of her skull. He then proceeded to ejaculate into her skull. When she didn’t come back to life, he had his members bury her body, but leave one of ribs. He kept her rib around her neck in a leather case.

Now November, 1998, Gabrielle Lavalle complained of a toothache. Roch “solved” the issue by ripping out multiple of her teeth with pliers. Later that same night, he chased her around with a knife and sliced the tendon in one of her hands. In July, 1998 Gabrielle complained about her hand being stiff. Roch decides to pierce her change with a knife to the table, then amputated her arm using a meat cleaver. She was left there until the morning when she was finally stitched up.

August 16, 1999, Gabrielle finally managed to escape and hitchhiked her way to hospital in Toronto and revealed all of the sickening details on what happened there. Roch ended up admitting to aggravated assault three times and one count of unlawful bodily harm. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison until a member showed the authorities the location of Solange’s body. Roch pleaded guilty to that charge too and got sentenced to life in prison without parole until 2000. In February, 2001, he died of a stabbing wound by his cell mate.
