AQUAMARINE AND SLEEPOVER

after watching aquamarine for the first time (ik its kinda criminal don't sue me) i've realised that these movies both share the same trope of the best friend moving away at the end of the movie as if its meant to be a teachable moment for the protagonist to move on ahead with life as an individual. in aquamarine, emma roberts character has to let go of her fear of abandonment after losing her parents and at the end of the movie she learns that its ok to be by yourself sometimes so you can move forward and grow. same in sleepover, alexa vegas character has to let go of her fear of losing her best friend and the theme of 'not being popular in highschool being the end of the world' because what matters is having the people you care about most being by your side and thats what she learnt at the end of the film.
