ok so this is kind of a part 2 to my other post..... u know the deal. btw everything here and the maps are subject to change bc i cant ever make my mind ^u^

an evacuation zone spanning territories of ukraine, russia and belarus:

nizhyn, densa, borzna, kulykivka, honcharivske, cherhiniv, mena, sosynytsa, slavutych, lyubech, ivankiv, chornobyl, prypyat, ripky, koryukivka, snovsk, semenivka, horodnya, zhadove, zlynka, klomovo, novyi ropsk, rogov, sytaya buda, voronok, kirov, golochitsky, bahrin, naroulina, chojniki, mazyr, veliki, kalinkavichy, velikie, zashchebe, perevolovka, loyew, koporovka, zaspa, novaya guta, babovichi, zayabrawka, dobrus, korma, cierachouka

most of the cities closer to the border of the NEZ weren't ordered to evacuate until much later. 

• on may 5th 1973, a week after the explosion at cnpp, large cities like cherhiniv and mazyr were evacuated within a few days. most of these evacuations were violent, rushed and in the middle of the night in some cities. families were forced to leave their pets and allowed one bag per person. checkpoints were set up on several roads inside the NEZ, and new ones created for ease of travel within. 
• in july of 1974, through september 1976, a liquidation attempt was made and it was realized that workers were unable to efficiently given the levels of radiation, and due to the sheer size of the NEZ, liquidation was deemed a failure and was abandoned. 
• in febuary of 1977, the belorusian portion of the NEZ was cleared for nuclear testing.

norishaya park is an internal park of the NEZ. it houses the tuzhar institute of phenomena examination, and is in two parts. norishaya 1 + norishaya 2. norishaya 1  takes part of ukraine and belarus, and norishaya 2 is in russia and houses the field offices of the tuzhar institute. 

the tuzhar institue of phenomena examination finished construction in december of 1976, with the field research offices finishing in march, and was built as a consequence of the chornobyl disaster. there are two buildings: the main research center in norishaya 1- which is considered a "government territory"-, and the field research offices in norishaya 2. the main research center focuses on extracting poisoned water from the dnipro and prypyat rivers, keeping track of radiation levels within the NEZ, (secretly housing wmd's.......), researching effects of high radiation on marine/flora/fauna life, among other things. (dnipro river measures maybe 1.50 msv/h) on the other hand, the field research station is much smaller and has more limited capabilities. 5 scientists go to the center at once and collect samples from the environment in the most radiated part of the NEZ. workplace culture is polar between the field offices and the main center. people who go out and do field office shifts are typically phytologists, physicists, or biologists/ecologists (there's less people, which also makes a difference, but also, there is one group leader, instead of everyone having a boss), versus many military and kgb/kgb-informers (like arsen) in the research center. there are much more people and work is divided into several departments.

"troika of graves" is the defacto name for the nuked out cities of brahin, chojniki, and naroulia. loosely in the shape of a triangle, 67 (if i counted right) bomb sites perimeter these cities, the largest bomb of which is in the middle. there are four watchtowers, where officials from the TIPE will view detonations: #3 in the city of velikie avtiuki, #4 on P33 (and doubles as a checkpoint) #2 a km west of savichi, and #1 northeast of mikhailovka. it is rumored that inside the troika is free of radiation, several "stalkers" have died trying to get through (no i'm not going to elaborate)

(october 1980) okay im saving the rbmk3 incident for last cus i dont even know if i want to keep it in, honestly. i'm not sure if it serves any purpose (it may in minor ways) but it's just meant to highlight miscommunication and incompetence. basically, coordinates get fucked up and rbmk3 is fucking nukeeeeeeedddd. (ignore this i have to write it here cus its the masterlist and ill forget but starting event prompting zivan and dietrich to go to lubyanka))
