my fave movies i watched this year!!!

i watched 153 movies this year!! counting rewatches i think? that's just according to letterboxd ^_^ @chemiquinn on there! this def isn't based on how objectively good something is, it's mosstly just movies i really loved or movies that i feel have had an effect over me since watching them!! this also won't be ranked, because i am so bad at ranking things:

top 10!

saw (2004): honestly i hated this at first!!!!! it's so weird to think about because i love the saw franchise so much but i really had to stockholm syndrome myself into enjoying it. 

scream (1996): this set off a whole horror/slasher kick that ive been on for moooonths tbh......... i liked horror before but scream is the movie that really made me want to watch all the horror movies in the whole world. scream i love u.......thank u for making me crazy insane and so so annoying all the time <3

the texas chainsaw massacre (1974): HONESTLY!!!!!!!! BEST HORROR MOVIE!!!!! not my FAVORITE but i rly think texas chainsaw is the best horror film of all time. im going to see a filming location next month and i'm so crazy excited!!!! maybe ill post some pictures i take there ^_^

bottoms (2023): so good i left the theater after seeing it and immediately bought tickets to see it again 2 days later. WATCH THIS!!!!! honestly maybe my favorite movie that came out this year <3 admittedly i'm biased because ayo edibiri and rachel sennott are 2 of my favorite actresses but this movie is so hilarious and so much FUN

fight club (1999): i watched this once in may with my friends and once a week or two ago just with me!! if you havent seen this go NOW watch watch watch!!!!! and don't get any spoilers!!!!! this def has been said before but i'm a sucker for color grading stuff (hence saw also being on my list.....) and fight clubis just soooo incredible visually

watching the detectives (2007): so underrated and so fun!!! cillian murphy and lucy liu are in this movie and it definitely seems like they had such a fun time filming it (which i always love!!! i love knwoing that actors love a movie as much as i do). this movie has singlehandedly made me want to open a dvd rental store even though it's crazy unrealistic in this day and age. we stay hopeful!!!!!! physical media will make its return in 2024!!!!!!!!

evil dead 2 (1987): the evil dead franchise is so interesting both in the actual story and in its releases? is evil dead 2 an alternate timeline or a retcon or what?!?! the world may never know.... unless the world does know and i'm behind idk!!! all i know is this movie is so stupid and corny and fun 

interstellar (2014): honestly i didn't think i was gonna like this as much as i did. i figured it would probably be overrated and it didn't really seem like my thing but goddddd this movie is insane. i haven't cried at a movie as much as i did at this one in a looooong time. i also usually avoid movies as long as this one (bad attention span...) but this was absolutely worth how long it was. 

reanimator (1985): LOVE!!! LOVE!!!!!!!1 NOTHING I CAN SAY ABOUT THIS OTHER THAN CRAZY MAGICAL WOW LOVE SO MUCH. SO STUPDI. LOVE IT!!!!!!! herbert west transgender as FUCK

talk to me (2023): watching this gave me such a sense of dread at so many points that i had to keep pausing it but i loved every second!!! i still haven't seen when evil lurks but this is def tied with saw x for my favorite horror movie of 2023. i wish i had seen it in theatre but i definitely would've had an insane panic attack because this freaked me out so bad
