Journal Entry #88: 12/31/23 - Final Hours, Final Thoughts (of 2023)

Yes, I wanted to make a blog because the date's '123123'. 

There are only about three hours left in 2023 for me. New Year's is my favorite holiday, and I want to discuss it a little more...

This is my favorite holiday because it's when everyone pays attention to the passage of time. Just about everyone adheres to a Gregorian calendar, and even before the standardization, it was celebrated across cultures. I enjoy recalling the year and reflecting on it. Even if the year was bad, you have a new one to start fresh!

Yes, I will admit that the date we set is arbitrary. In fact, I used to advocate for celebrating New Year's in the spring, since they both have themes of rebirth. However, that would take a dramatic shift in the calendar! I do hope to talk about why I love Spring so much around March or so. 

So although I had a good year personally and on the surface level, I did not have a good year in terms of personal growth. I was very deceptive this year. I lied, didn't speak up, and cheated. I would like to leave these habits in 2023, and I have a feeling that the consequences will follow me into 2024 to aid in my goal. I hope to find myself in 2024 and grow to become a better person. I also aim to improve my art and start working, since I am of working age.

2024, may you bring something good for all of us. Change, fortune, wealth, luck, etc.
