Blog Entry #4: Flash games, broken monitors, and the new year.

December 31st (2am) 2023.

Welp, I was talking moments ago with some peeps in a Discord server I'm in about old flash games, and that reminded me that this project exists to archive and keep playable flash games as well as so many other things called Flashpoint.

I downloaded it and booted up a game I haven't played in ages called Pwong 2 which has a killer soundtrack to it. I think I'm going to end up exploring old flash games a bit too much in the coming days.

Earlier in the day (technically yesterday) I went and picked up a couple old PC CRT monitors from some guy that have issues for a few bucks. I'm hoping I can fix at least one of them, but it's a slow process cuz I don't know the first thing about diagnosing and attacking any problems so I'm currently trying to learn what I can to help me there.

I want to use at least one of them with an old PC build with parts from the 2000's to create a dedicated Windows XP machine that can natively play older games without needing to use wonky hacks and workarounds like you need to do for playing those games on newer hardware and operating systems.

The new year is around the corner... time keeps moving forward but I don't seem to be moving with it all that much. This time of year always puts into perspective how little I've actually accomplished and done in life so far and it's kind of depressing. But I need to just try and stay focused on what's right in front of me and live in the moment cuz otherwise I'll overthink things and have another existential crisis and I definitely don't want one of those.... again. XD

Suffice it to say, I have no plans. Probably just going to play some video games and zone out for the day.

--EDIT/ADDITION--
I still have yet to figure out how to make the CRT filter on my layout less aggressive and allow text to be more visible. But I did figure out how to make it somewhat transparent so you can see the background picture more.
However, the transparency effects everything including text... hopefully I can figure out how to make transparency apply to everything but text and things like profile pictures...
