saw a poll on twitter and it got me thinking:
what is the future of social media?
relearned myself on what the tumblr exodus was along with another sites emigration and im thinking that we may see almost every major social media site entirely capitalized to the point where userbases are much smaller than they were before their enshittification and forced to go to smaller social media sites.
ill admit that i dont think i have a full picture of what the current state of social media is as a whole, including major and small sites. so if anyone sees this, tell me what yall think is the future of social media may be. dont be afraid to tell me on whats going with the state of social media as well. after all, i acknowledged my ignorance.
anyway, hit me in the replies. i wanna do some thinking.
edit: learning more about enshittification and i wouldnt be surprised if were actually on an entire track of the full decay of the internet due to capitalism spreading across it rapidly or some other stuff.

the capitialization of social media atp is just sad. More bot activity being pushed to the center is killing twitter for me. idk whats the point in whoever decides to make bots or whatever lol. And idk but instagram, tiktok and youtube (esp w shorts) are all feeling the same (also insta isnt that fun if your not interacting w irls imo). nothing is really all that personal or interesting other than using those sites for news. Social media is definetly the most important thing for news but actual interactivity...is meh..i still find a lot of cool things to be interested in like video games or music from ppl but idk man, i definetly dont like how much of a huge mix all this is. You can tweet something for a certain crowd but everybody and anybody can see it and dogpile it. i think some ppl are gonna be moving to more personalized and smaller forum or blog sites like this to be more personal and excluded yknow
