Hey, we've been pretty silent on here for a while, sorry about that. We've been struggling, but also channeling the little energy we have into some projects. I finally got the PlayDate (a cute little console that I talked about in my blog post about indie consoles), and almost immediately started working on a rhythm game for it. I call it Orbeats, and it's coming along really well actually! Here are some recordings of what it looks like!
I've hit a bit of a wall when it comes to maps though. To make custom song maps I either have to A. make them by hand, writing the JSON files through lots of copy and pasting and tweaking number values which takes hours and is mind numbing, or B. create a custom editor for making levels. Our girlfriend offered to make an editor and worked a bit on it, but she's been really burnt out and busy with life, and I haven't been very keen on banging my head against the wall that is making maps for songs without any sort of editor, so it's come to a standstill with development.
As for the interactive fiction game we were making, it's kind of been on the backburner as I work on the rhythm game, but now that work on Orbeats is slowing we'll probably be finishing it up soon. Sorry to anyone who was interested in it since we posted the demo for the delays. We need to finish up about a quarter of the script, and then it's probably going to go through some editing, done by our friend Doc.
As for other things we've been up to, we started a TikTok. Blasphemy, I know, but it's mostly just been an outlet for me to talk about a niche interest of mine and Plums; writing systems and scripts! It's been fun, and one of our videos got much bigger than we ever expected! It's currently around 230k views, and we were contacted by a couple of people to make custom scripts for them, which is so cool! It's our first time doing that kind of commission, and they went well. One of the commissions is already done, it's called Barkrune and it looks like this!
Hopefully we can be a bit more active on here, let us know what you think about these projects if you have any thoughts!
