New Yearsposting (2023 Recap)

2023 is almost finished!

January - Second semester of senior year began. (I took AP Stats, AP Gov, Storyboarding, Anatomy, and Economics.) There really isn't much to say about this month. Oh, I attended gymnastics meets as usual with my family. Also, my high school hosted a talent show which was quite entertaining, and probably my favorite memory of this month.

February - My mom got covid, and I celebrated my 18th birthday. As a treat, I tried sushi for the first time (it was pretty good). I attended a school fundraiser; it wasn't that great but oh well. Later during this month, I made a skin cake diagram for an anatomy project. Valentine's Day was also alright, save for one embarrassment. The skin cake is my favorite February memory. Also, the end of February was pleasantly warm.

March - Spring! I got a haircut during Spring Break and toured the university I would be attending. I also tuned into March Madness, only to see my favorite team lose immediately. I also saw some cool wildlife while I was on break. During this month I also took some mock exams for AP classes. I made a lot of grilled cheese sandwiches at this time for lunch and enjoyed sitting outside in the courtyard on sunny days. My favorite March memory was the tour.

April - Geared up for exams and graduation. Murder Drones episode 4 came out. I also cooked these fish-shaped ravioli, which were super cool. I relaxed early in the month, but later entries here confirm that I was very tired and stressed in late April. I participated in walking yearbook day, which is my favorite memory from April.

May - Took my AP exams (and passed them all!). I cleaned out my closet and got rid of a lot of stuff. I watched Unicorn: Warriors Eternal. I graduated high school! I got a pedicure and hosted my graduation party at my house. I struggled through my math placement test but eventually placed where I wanted to be. I also had my last piano recital. I attended freshman orientation for university and got my graduate's dozen from Krispy Kreme. My favorite May memory was eating Tropical Smoothie Cafe with my family as the rain hit after the graduation ceremony.

June - Watched Across the Spiderverse! I also attended my STEM summer program. I enjoyed my refresher on precalculus and only had morning courses. I got sick of eating Chick-fil-A each day. I didn't like the research pitch portion of the program, but it turned out okay in the end. We went bowling, played video games in the game room, went to a Juneteenth festival (which got rained out), dealt with incoming nursing students, and visited numerous sites. My favorite memory is probably the last night we all shared, where we voted on superlatives (I was most likely to be downstairs early). My favorite memory was listening to music and observing my classmates playing spades.

July - Returned home from STEM program. My house experienced a power outage. I attended a family reunion. It was fun helping relatives make fish. Watched My Adventures with Superman (good show). I also attended a freshman send-off party, which was nicely themed. I also went to the beach for a late vacation. I enjoyed visiting storefronts at the mall (malls are a lost art!) and visiting the pier at night. While I was at the beach I got this fish-shaped pretzel, which was super cool. My favorite July memory was visiting the pier at night and seeing the moon, along with huddling with my family in candlelight darkness during the outage.

August - Moved into my dorm and started classes! I learned how to be by myself. I had a friendly squirrel visit my dorm. I met my RA and attended various events. Murder Drones Episode 6 came out. Interviewed for an organization and got in! My favorite August memory was the Tiger Retreat party, there was a lot of really good food. The evening activities were cool although they got rained out.

September - First wave of exams, along with first football game (and victory!). Enjoyed more fun events with free food. Homecoming was in the middle of the month and was a blast! I made themed sugar cookies and prepared my Halloween costume. Late in the month, I learned how to golf! I also visited GE. My favorite September memory was going to Toomer's Corner after our win.

October - Things started to get rough around the edges; I had lots of projects to do. Went to the fall festival and went on the zipline. I also came home for a short bit. Saw another football game and went on the first date I had in a while. Dressed up for Halloween and had some fun. I painted a pumpkin, went into a haunted house, and did some trick-or-treating. My favorite October memory was going through the Haunted House with my friends, it was quite the scare!

November - Projects started to wrap up, I went to step, which was quite entertaining. I went on break and dealt with an exam almost as soon as it ended. Pax, my OC, came to fruition. My iPad broke, but I attended the Iron Bowl with my dad. That's probably my favorite memory, but I also had fun playing Twister with my RAs after the break.

December - Finals! I did okay. Went home for winter break, enjoyed performances, relaxed, and caught up with family. I visited various relatives and gave out gifts. I downloaded Hi-Fi Rush (arguably game of the year), and it blew my mind! Shopped around, made bracelets, watched a basketball game, and opened presents. I watched Arthur Christmas (a classic) and Klaus (also a classic). I got this nice keyboard, Apollo 18, and some other stuff. My favorite December memory is drinking hot cocoa with Lucky Charms Marshmallows while playing Hi-Fi Rush under my colorful Christmas lights.
