Money can’t buy happiness (materialism, nihilism, the end of the world)

Money can’t buy happiness…

no, certainly not, certainly not.

but is it wrong to have material desires?

can they benefit personal satisfaction? (they can) will they, always? (probably not)

it’s easy to lose yourself in a constant mental battle of comparison to the self and obsession with material desires. adds to stress, unhappiness.

i want (physical objects) cute socks (already have a ton, lose them so easily) my own coffee maker (no one else’s) a screenprinting setup (for profit? for personal enjoyment?) expensive skincare (more incentive to take care of hygiene) cute stickers (for a notebook i’ll quickly abandon)

what’s the point of granting myself these (physical objects) if they are soon to be discarded and and add to the ever growing heap of plastic and cloth and polyester and aluminium and junk

is it really so badass to see the final chapter of planet earth? is it selfish and heartless to wish it could come sooner?

i imagine the sentiment above has been reiterated for almost half a century by now.

each iteration of this statement comes closer and closer to the truth. this scares me.
