another awesome movie i watched wooo. I had this on my watchlist foreverr and yesterday i finally watched it and it was just as great as i expected.
on the film we follow sonny, who's trying to rob a bank but... lots of problems appear. i gotta say i was aware of the "twist", as it was THAT what truly drew me into the movie, but oh well, it was cool to see it with someone who didn't know and was pleasantly surprised by it. I do have a question though: why is this a "bro" film (you know what i mean)? I understand it's Al Pacino, there's guns, it's about a robbery, my boy Al looks cool... but then again, uh, no? Cause let's be honest he's a whole mess the whole film, but he's also nice time and time again to the ladies and you sympathize with him and then BOOM he's actually one of them queers and it's like, how come this is a bro film? Cause it isn't even subtext like in fight club, it's THERE, it's TEXT, and it's praised time and time again. IDK. Would love to discuss this movie with a filmbro guy, see what they have to say.
Gave this movie a 5/5 on the aftermovie high but it feels more like a 4/5 now idk. ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT THO!
OK NOW ONTO SPOILERS CUS i gotta comment some scenes in detail.
The twist i referred to earlier is obviously the fact that he's robbing the bank to pay for his wife's sex change surgery, which honestly, most romantic shit ever even if he's kind of a shit guy. Leon was the sweetest and I was so happy at the end when they said she had the sex change and has been living peacefully ever since like, THAT'S the ending I was looking for!! But yeah the thing is, it really surprised me when I found out this movie was about that cause it seems like classic, as I said, supermacho bro film but UH HUH, it's about a guy robbing money for his darling wife Leon<3
Now. Can we talk about Al Pacino in this I've been dying to talk about Al Pacino in this. Holy moly. Talk about wet pathetic guys. He's got it all: he's a short king, beautiful big brown eyes, a cute haircut, anxiety for days, respects women, UNION GUY, anti establishment anti police anti everything.
HONESTLY i feel like if i had seen this movie at 13 it would have changed my life (instead i watched reservoir dogs and it also changed my life but now i have a blood fixation).
loved the pacing as well, how at times it's so frantic but others they are just chilling playing with guns and eating pizza like come onnnn. I love that. My mom, who half watched with us, said "oh they have stockolm syndrome" ok well shut up cause that's not true. Also isn't stockholm syndrome like, NOT a thing? Idk. But it's not happening there.
ANYWAY. I'm very sick and I can feel the fever rising as i type so probably this is it butttttt i do recommend obvi it's so great, fun, emotional and Al Pacino is so cute in it lol. If u watch it tell me what u think MWAH!<3
