notes app poetry and its consequences

to preface, i am a random teenager on the internet. i am not exempt from being cringe or saying things that i'll find embarrassing later on. i am not an expert on anything because i was born yesterday. you can't hold me accountable i'm literally neurodivergent and a minor...? ANYHOW. i'm sure anyone who's been active on twitter or tiktok for the past few days (weeks?) has noticed the recent rise in a specific kind of poetry. to summarize;

pomegranate..,. man violent and sexual woman nice and gentle. cannibalism is the purest form of love and jesus and mitski. jupiter was meant to be a star and yes i use tumblr how did you know

no, using tumblr isn't bad (i literally use it myself). religious themes, cannibalism metaphors and fruit symbolism, while currently a bit overused, are not inherently bad. a pet peeve of mine, though, is the way the internet (specifically tiktok) overuses the same expression until it means literally nothing. "theory" and "flag" are all prime examples of this phenomenon. one viral slideshow will lead to the most cliché, half-baked poems where the author shares their PERSPECTIVE-CHANGING views on gender roles, such as "Men Be Horny". sylvia plath has been real quite since you dropped that one man.

tiktok user you gotta stop... your pomegranate too feminist... your themes too religious... your cannibalism too symbolistic... they're gonna lower your screentime limit tiktok user...
