Tony and Carmela are at the mall, shopping for some gifts for their kids. Tony spots a music store and decides to check it out. He sees a grand piano on display and feels curious. He walks over to the piano and starts playing some random notes. He is not very good at it, but he enjoys making some noise.
The man who works at the store, a middle-aged guy with glasses and a ponytail, is not amused. He approaches Tony and asks him to stop playing. Tony ignores him and continues to bang on the keys. The man gets angry and tells Tony to get off the piano. Tony looks at him and says, "Who the fuck are you to tell me what to do? I'm just having some fun here."
The man says, "This is not a toy, this is a $50,000 instrument. You're ruining it with your clumsy fingers. You have no respect for music or art. You're just a thug with a fat wallet."
Tony is offended by the man's words. He stands up and says, "You don't know who you're talking to, pal. I'm Tony Soprano, the boss of this town. You better watch your mouth or you'll regret it."
The man says, "I don't care who you are, you have no business here. This is a place for musicians, not mobsters. Now get out of my store before I call security."
Tony is about to lose his temper and punch the man, when a nerdy 9 year old boy with his family walks in. The boy is wearing glasses, a sweater vest, and a backpack. He looks like a typical nerd. He sees the piano and his eyes light up. He asks his parents if he can play it. They say yes and he runs to the piano even though the boy did not ask the man who started crap with Tony. He sits down and starts playing a beautiful rendition of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. He plays with grace and skill, impressing everyone in the store.
Tony is stunned by the boy's talent. He feels ashamed of his own lack of musical ability. He also feels a pang of jealousy, wishing he had a son like that. He looks at the man who works at the store and sees him smiling and nodding at the boy. The man says, "Now that's what I call music. That kid has a gift. He's a prodigy."
Tony feels hurt by the man's praise for the boy. He feels like the man is mocking him and rubbing his failure in his face. He feels humiliated and angry. He walks out of the store, followed by Carmela, who tries to calm him down. He says, "Let's get out of this fucking mall. I hate this place. I hate these people. I hate that fucking kid."
The episode ends with Tony driving away from the mall, fuming and cursing, while the boy continues to play the piano, blissfully unaware of Tony's resentment.
