ugh.. i'm so sad i'll never get to experience the real hot topic. it feels wrong to even see them use the name anymore, the message they're trying to send has changed so much
it gets me sooo heated, they're always like "we will bring back the old ht soon!!" and then they just release new merch of emo bands that doesnt even look cute like ??? :( and it's so hard finding old/vintage emo or anything alternative looking nowadays
oh really? :( where i live we never had hot topic, but im frustrated that it has to be modernised, minimalist, boring and more palatable for mainstream and the new trends- along along many other iconic and loved things like websites, design in total, places, etc. i heard they at least have like belts and studded accessories?
ahh that sucks, but tbh youre not rlly missing out after they "modernized" it. and while there is some places youre able to find vintage stuff its usually a hit or miss bc its either way too expensive or you have to search through garage sales/thrift stores. n yeaaa they brought back studded belts and studded bracelets but thats kind of all they added. they really only sell anime and disney stuff now.
true when it comes to alternative and vintage as a whole. but people are missing out, whatever happened to brands like Tripp, Morbid Threads, beautiful clothing that was simply sold in HT round the 90s, and if you had the money you could get it for your birthday. but now you've gotta do some serious digging on ebay and hope the stars are just in the right place to find stuff like that in a thrift store or something. not to mention thrift stores are also not such a thing where i live, at best you'll find neon green sketchers.
my dad has a bunch of old band tees so i just steal them from him lmaoo, luckily my entire family likes the same music and basically has the same style as me so im able to justify spending a few bucks on clothes. and for christmas i got some tripp pants and a few pairs of demonia sandals, but we recently went to las vegas and went to this metal shop and everything was just way too overpriced so i didnt get anything. D: the green sketchers thing is so true omg, its always old lady clothes or old burger king uniforms lmaooo the only time i truly hit the jackpot was when i found the exact cobra starship sweater i had growing up, then a few months later the singer sent me a signed postcard which was legit fate loll
wait what that's awesome , how'd you just get them to just send you a postcard like that? also having parents into the same stuff is so cool, you're lucky. my mom doesn't allow me to wear a cross necklace with all-black outfits because I'll be associated with goths.. today i wore one but had to keep shoving the necklace into my shirt whenever i was within the vicinity of her vision. it sucks but i do get away a lot of the time if I can take being called stubborn instead.
basically the band has been dead since 2015 and they released new singles in 2021 and just basically came back for a hot min, and they did this thing where you had to put ur address in their website and random ppl would get a postcard and i got one!!! and yea im pretty lucky, i was raised on rock/metal and i spent a lot of time with my oldest sister who was superrr emo so it's nice to have family that have the same things in common as me. but where i live theres a bunch of christian moms so i get stares everytime i go out but it doesnt bother me lol, my ex's family was pretty religious though and they couldn't even let their parents know they listened to rock.
that's cool! and ah I can't say my family is super religious either to be honest. I'd say less than even the average christian. it's more motivated by the fact that my mom doesn't want me to stick out because I'll look to weird and radical, and that no one else is like that where I live rather than "the devil stole your soul!"
thats how my brother feels about me lmao, earlier today i was doing my hair and he was like "its not 2008 anymore", he likes metal n all that, but doesnt like it when i dress even slightly alternative.. its kinda funny seeing his reaction to my outfits but also kinda annoying when he taunts me all the time LOL
that's annoying! i got a brother too, at most he says goths and emos are cringe lol. but never straight up says anything to the way *i* dress. whereas my sister does have a style of her own, and she also listens to some of the music that i do , she's pretty much the only one i share some interests with, so I'm not like a complete misfit
yeah my sisters like the same music as me but dont really dress the part, they will for concerts but at most its like a black tank with baggy jeans lol. and my oldest sister is so judgemental but her friends love me bc they say i remind them of them when they were in middle school bc they were also emo. everytime they see me they always gush over me :P
