Merry Christmas! It's a little late to say it though...
I also find it hard to say since the birthplace of Jesus is being bombed. Between that the dissonance between last year's Christmas and this year's, I have to declare that this wasn't that good.
Yes, I spent time with my family, made sugar cookies, and watched some movies, but it simply didn't feel the same. I haven't been home the entire year. Thankfully I'll get used to this, but for now, it will feel weird.
Before Christmas, I visited some family members and went to a basketball game. The local university's coliseum is decked out in red. It's been a little bit since I've been in there. Who knew red could be such a cozy color?
I watched two movies before Christmas and one on Christmas Day. The first was Arthur Christmas, which is a sweet movie about a guy set on delivering a missed present before sunrise on Christmas Day. I saw RebelTaxi review it and decided to check it out. I say it should be a classic! On Christmas Eve, I watched Klaus. It has a more tragic tone but leaves off on a good note. The animation is stunning! The 2D animation looks so 3D, I can't believe they were able to pull that off. Yesterday, I went with my family to watch The Color Purple. It was good, and also extremely dramatic. It wasn't really my kind of movie though. I really feel like I should've read the book before viewing it. Also, I don't mean this in a bad way, but it feels like something I'd watch in a literary analysis class. For whatever reason, it feels like a lot of movies coming out have been sad and emotional. I find it kind of odd since times are sad and emotional, so shouldn't movies be striving to be the opposite?
Anyway, let's talk about what I got for Christmas. Firstly, I did get everything I asked for. I received a nice calendar with vacation posters, an electric piano, an iPad, and the Apollo 18 album. The piano sounds great, the iPad works amazingly, and the Apollo 18 album is brand new and plays in my boombox. I had to be patient, but it turns out all of my data was saved! Oh, thank goodness. In addition to what I asked for, I got some jewelry, calm strips, socks, lounge clothes, a sleep mask, a scalp massager, a new shirt, a new pair of shoes, some candy, hot cocoa, eye gels, and reusable makeup remover pads. As you can see from this list, I have a lot of items related to self-care. This isn't a bad thing, but it's indicative of what's to come. Spring semester is always the rougher semester, despite the pleasant weather in the latter half.
Speaking of, now that Christmas is over, it's time to focus on the year ahead. I'll likely post something about recapping my year in a few days. I will be cleaning for the rest of the week to ensure that I start off 2024 fresh!
Tchau,
