myspace/spacehey or instagram? friends or frenemies?

Hi! To the people who'll see this or ever will. today we're gonna discuss the legendary 2000s social media platform MySpace and the one we are using today, which is a total drug to us. Instagram.

It feels totally odd to travel to an era you never experienced. The era when my cousins would burn CDs to make their Spotify Wrapped by infecting their computers with LimeWire. Thank God society moved on. Ok, but let's be real.  Drama existed even back then: cyberbullying, messy profiles (they even had to learn to code their profiles), and everyone begging for a spot in that Top 8.

Fast forward, Instagram feels like the duality between the white swan and the black swan. Instagram totally wins for the spot of the white swan, she likes to be calm, classy, and aesthetic pictures. It had a hold on all of us, we discovered filtres and even DMs, millennials called it IM, the abbreviation for Internet Message, but that is outdated, we communicate through Instagram, WhatsApp and other platforms that require Internet. Who uses classic texts nowadays? What, are you a nanny with a flip phone from 2004?

Okay, where were we? Ah, yes, discussing which social media platform was more dramatic or less dramatic. Well, every single social media platform had at least this 'cancel' culture, completely understandable. Thanks to Instagram's community guidelines, they took down all offensive comments, making it feel like a safer place.

MySpace had its share of drama. No guidelines, no rules, people could be pretty extra. You couldn't fight that much for your safety. Indeed, there existed a block button. On the other hand, Instagram, has a blocking and a report button. It's not perfect, but sure it is a total upgrade.

To wrap this up, MySpace was that cool kid, sometimes aggressive in the back of the class. This kid definitely had a messy life. Instagram is like today's 'it girl', who loves organization, is drama-free, living a sunshine Barbie in a perfect world who acts like some preppy girl with a brand new Rolex bought with daddy's money.
